Travel Award

AALAS National Meeting

The OKAALAS Travel Award supports qualified members in attending the AALAS National Meeting for professional development, continuing education, and engagement with the laboratory animal science community.

Application Deadline: July 17   |   Award Amount: Up to $1,500 per recipient

What the Award Covers

  • Conference registration paid directly by OKAALAS
  • Hotel accommodations covered or booked directly
  • Airfare or mileage reimbursed after travel or prepaid when feasible
  • Advance travel funding may be considered case-by-case

Meals and incidental expenses are the recipient’s responsibility unless otherwise approved.

Eligibility

  • Current member in good standing of OKAALAS and AALAS
  • Actively employed, enrolled, or engaged in laboratory animal science or a related field
  • Preference may be given to applicants with more than 2 years in the field
  • Preference may be given to those without employer or institutional funding

Application Requirements

Submit a completed application to the OKAALAS Board at okaalasbranch@gmail.com.

Include a 250–500 word statement explaining your interest, professional benefit, and how you will share what you learn.

Provide proof of current OKAALAS and AALAS membership.

Applicants are encouraged to obtain supervisor, manager, or director approval before submitting.

Selection Criteria

  • Professional development benefit
  • Relevance to current role or career goals
  • Engagement with OKAALAS activities
  • Financial need or lack of alternative funding
  • Commitment to contributing back to OKAALAS

Recipient Responsibilities

  • Attend the AALAS National Meeting in full
  • Represent OKAALAS professionally
  • Submit a post-meeting summary within 30 days
  • Provide a brief presentation, report, or newsletter contribution if requested
  • Submit receipts for reimbursable expenses

Submit your completed application materials by July 17. Applications will be reviewed by the OKAALAS Executive Committee or designated Awards Committee, with final approval by the OKAALAS Board.
